4 billion gallons saved marks significant milestone in company’s mission to prove conservation is good for business
Miami, FL (July 6, 2021) – ecofi, a trailblazer in water and energy conservation for the real estate industry, proudly announces an extraordinary achievement: saving 4 billion gallons of water. This equates to savings ranging from $23 million to $70 million, based on the combined water and sewage rates in regions with the lowest and highest average costs, as cited in Water and Wastewater Annual Price Escalation Rates for Selected Cities Across the United States (U.S. Department of Energy, 2023).
By addressing the root causes of the 1 trillion gallons wasted annually in U.S. homes, ecofi is saving water—our planet’s most precious resource—while delivering substantial ROI for property owners.
ecofi tackles waste at its source, replacing leaky toilets—which can squander over 6,000 gallons per month per unit—and upgrading bathroom and kitchen fixtures with state-of-the-art water-saving technologies. These initiatives are not only reducing water consumption at scale but also slashing utility bills for property owners. In parallel, ecofi’s energy efficiency measures have prevented over 100,000 tons of CO2 emissions, contributing to a more sustainable future.
Co-CEOs and Co-Founders Richard and Lawrence Lamondin shared, “This milestone reflects the dedication of our incredible team and the unwavering support of our partners. Over the last nine years, we’ve transformed an untapped opportunity to save on water and energy into a nationwide conservation movement. As the climate emergency intensifies, ecofi remains steadfast in tackling environmental, housing affordability, and sea-level rise challenges head-on.”

Partnering with leading real estate investors and property management groups nationwide, ecofi delivers measurable environmental and financial savings. Here are some standout projects:
Ecofi upgraded 416 bathroom fixtures at Heron Lake, a 264-unit community owned by Carroll and PGIM Real Estate. The project reduced water utility costs by 37%, saving the property over $93,000 annually.
In collaboration with Monarch Investments & Management Group, ecofi retrofitted 553 bathrooms at Ashton Pointe, cutting utility bills by 35%. This upgrade delivered a seven-month ROI and has saved more than 11.7 million gallons of water while preventing 500+ tons of CO2 emissions.
Ecofi partnered with NXRT and BH Management to retrofit 1,171 bathrooms, securing a record-breaking $117,000 rebate from Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management. This project set a benchmark for water-saving rebates in the city.
“This is just the beginning,” added Richard Lamondin. “As we strive toward saving 10 billion gallons, we invite governments, businesses, and communities to join us in rethinking how we interact with water. Together, we can create a sustainable future while delivering meaningful financial returns.”
